25.02.07 The Bathroom

Rob has been busy doing more good tiling. He's been very neat and careful apparantly!
However, as usual we always decide to do tricky jobs at the end of the day and today was no exception!
If you look at the middle tile you will see a light. You can never have too many! Behind the tiles and the plasterboard was a wire so that we could pull up the light cable. However, the light didn't go up with the wire and so we've now had to go under the bath and hope that one of the other 2 lights on the other central tiles will be able to pull up the middle light wire. It's more complicated than you could ever imagine!

25.02.07 The En Suite

The En suite is now all painted and I've started to clean the tiles up. It just needs the skirting boards and then it's finished.

24.02.07 The En Suite

I have grouted the en suite today. I type this message with most of my index and middle finger's skin missing. Grouting can be quite painful at times! Tomorrow, I should be able to give the tiles a really good clean down and finish painting the walls. Once I've done this then the whole of the upstairs is finished! It can now be carpeted.
This means that the bottom floor is done and that the top floor is done. The middle floor is the only floor left.
We aren't doing anything with the kitchen. We need to save about 10k to complete the house converting the outbuildings into a kitchen, utility room and downstairs toilet. But we have to wait 2-3 years for this to happen.
But, we are nearly into the moving in stage! Woo Hoo!

24.02.07 The Bathroom

Rob has been busy tiling the bathroom today. We wanted these tiles a couple of months ago but since then they have changed the colour. It's a bit darker than I expected. There are 10 x 10 cm tiles which match but since changing the colour they don't match. We will have to go and change them. Lets hope that they can find a colour to match them. There are also edging tiles which thankfully still match.

17.02.07 The Bathroom

Rob has fitted the shower into the bathroom. The bathroom can now be tiled.
Rob has also made a switch so that the bathroom lights can be dimmed.

17.02.07 The En Suite

I've been busy tiling again and the shower area is now completed. I think it looks lovely.
The sink will look like it's suspended. There is a piece of wood underneath it at present so that the tiles don't down slide down it. It will be removed once they are stuck. Tomorrow I shall finish the bottom bits of tiling now that Rob has cut the pipes down for the sink.

16.02.07 The Kitchen

As we all know, you can never have too many lights! So as Rob sat in the kitchen the other day and stated that it was quite dark there was only 1 answer.....to get more lights!
So thanks to B&Q we got more lights. £9.99 each, what a bargain!

16.02.07 The En Suite

We now have a shower cubicle! We will never use this as it will be a nightmare to clean!! Rob has put wood into the cubicle to stop any water getting behind it. He's siliconed everywhere! to stop leaks. It's my job tomorrow to tile it. But thankfully, I shall be doing up the wall tiling and not down the wall tiling, which will be a breeze!

16.02.07 The En Suite

I've started tiling. I started tiling down the wall which is practically impossible. But I managed with the help of wooden blocks and spacers and anything else I could get my hands on to hold the tiles at the bottom. Most of the bottom tiles have not been attached yet as the water pipes need cutting off to make them smaller.
The metal brackets that Rob made at work last week will hold a piece of wood so that the sink will sit on it. The sink should look like it's floating then.

15.02.07 The Bathroom

The ceiling in the bathroom has now been painted. It took 4 coats of silk emulsion. Well, actually, it was part silk, part matt because somebody picked up the wrong container as they looked identical and mixed the 2 together, oops! But it is more silk than matt.

12.02.07 The Bathroom

Well, Rob could never resist lights, so we have some more! These also work on the PIR. However, I hear that Rob has ordered a dimmer for this room as well.
Rob has also added dimmer switches in the kitchen.
In fact he's been so excited about his dimmer switches, I suspect that most of Bawtry will have them by this time next year!

12.02.07. The En Suite

Complete with lights. I've taken 2 pictures with the downlighters on and 2 with the PIR LED's

One of the lighted pictures shows the shower which is now installed and the radiator which is back on after painting the wall in the same colour paint as the bedroom. The LED's next to the shower will fit into the cut out tiles that we have ordered. Hopefully, the en suite should be tiled and finished by next weekend. The other picture shows the other end of the en suite.

The last 2 pictures show what it will look like with only the PIR LED's working. This is what we will see at night if we need to use the toilet. Unfortunately the pictures are a bit darker than in real life.

11.02.07 Top Floor, Front Bedroom

Finally, I have finished glossing. It seemed to take forever and it's possibly because of all the door ways and alcoves. But it's done!
As you can see in the picture with Rob crouching down, the shower has been fitted. It's not the one that should have been there, but he thinks that there is something wrong with the thermostatic temperature valve on the original one.
I can honestly say that whilst Rob has been fitting the shower I have never heard so many expletives in different orders in my life. My poor ears have been burned! Rob will openly admit that he absolutely hates plumbing and that he would rather gouge out his eyes with a coat hanger!
